3. To extend spiritual or physical help to all those in need.
BRIEF HISTORY:
In the mid 1990’s, several local families
approached Chabad Lubavitch leaders in Columbia and Atlanta wanting to bring
more Torah knowledge to the CSRA. These local visionaries were
familiar with the phenomenal success and contributions Chabad was having in
communities around the world and were certain that Augusta could benefit
strongly from a fully operational Chabad Center. After meeting with
local Jewish leadership in the winter of 1996, the decision was made by the
regional Chabad director to move forward to establish a full time Chabad center
in Augusta. Rabbi Zalman & Chani Fischer moved to
Augusta in that summer and began offering its first Jewish programs.

Chabad of Augusta serves as a resources to the Jewish community through Adult education, youth programs, Hebrew & Sunday schools, outreach programs, prayer services, holiday events and much more.
Rabbi Zalman Fischer received s’micha (rabbinic ordination) from the Central Lubavitch Yeshiva Tomchei Temimim in Brooklyn, NY. Among his outreach experience, he also traveled to Tashkent, Uzbekistan and Moscow, Russia to help revitalize the spiritually impoverished Jewish communities recovering from communist oppression.
The Chabad Center is located at 850 Broad Street.
