Jennifer*, is 15 and one of only five Jewish students in her high school. She is shunned by her peers because of her support for Israel, ridiculed for living her Jewish values and not joining their church, and just simply for being different. She doesn’t want to hide her identity; she is reaching out to us for help. This is Jennifer’s challenge and for many Jewish teens in our community.
They are all asking for our help. The answer is the C-Teen lounge. At the CTeen Lounge Jennifer and her friends will have a beautiful teen lounge where she will be developing and growing Jewishly with the guidance of Sarah and Rabbi Mendel, and in the supportive company of other Jewish teens in Augusta.
She will be welcomed and embraced. She will strengthen her Jewish pride, and appreciate the wonderful blessing of being Jewish, the richness of Jewish life, and the significant role she will play in the world as a carrier of the golden torch of Judaism.
Today, we need your help in making this teen lounge a reality. A large portion of the recently purchased property next door to Chabad will become the CTeen Lounge, featuring a state-of-the-art center, with interactive games, large TVs, comfortable furniture and much more. All this in an inclusive safe environment for Jewish teens in Augusta to hang out together – where memories will be made, and friendships will be born. (An additional section of this property will be made into a hospitality suite.)
